Description

The fragrance unveils green notes, ‘like leaves swollen with dew,’ as well as ‘the softness of sweet fruit and white petals.’ The scent’s vanilla-inflected trail exhales a touch of mimosa, too. Perfumer: Ernest Beaux.

At a glance

A gardenia soliflore that smells like camellia

History

Coco Chanel made camellias her emblem. In 1925, this odor-less bloom was replaced by gardenia, ‘which looks so much like it, and has a sweet, exotic scent,’ to create a soliflore entitled simply Gardénia. In 2007, Gardénia entered the Les Exclusifs collection of rare fragrances sold exclusively at Chanel boutiques.

Range

Eau de Toilette 2.5 and 6.8 oz.; Extract 1/2 oz.

Bottle

A slender bottle with spare lines.

Très joli, très très joli, même pour un homme. Le dimanche matin lui va très bien, comme un costume sur mesure. Très précieux.
