The perfume reveals its first vanilla note at the heart – a tincture of Mayotte vanilla accompanied by jasmine and rose. The thoroughbred, gourmand trail reveals a blend of iris, frankincense, opopanax and tonka bean, articulated around a more carnal absolute of vanilla from Madagascar. Perfumer: Thierry Wasser.

History

With Ode à la Vanille, Thierry Wasser pays tribute to vanilla from the Indian Ocean… the orchid that is sometimes nicknamed ‘black gold’ because of its popularity at Guerlain. Guerlain’s perfumer has enhanced Shalimar by garbing it in vanillas from the islands of Madagascar and Mayotte. ‘A veritable overdose of vanilla, this perfume goes after the materials within the materials, playing with all of vanilla’s different facets, from a joyful lightness to a lush, almost sexual sensuality,’ Thierry Wasser says. Ode à la Vanille uses Shalimar’s classic urn bottle and borrows its name from Ode, a perfume created in 1955 by Jacques and Jean-Paul Guerlain. It’s a thoroughbred, feminine, gourmand fragrance, steeped in Guerlain’s history, a veritable invitation to intense desire. A limited edition available from Guerlain boutiques only.
