Description
Calèche is a chypre woody floral composition. The top note is crisp and cheerful, opening onto a middle note of rose of Damascus and May rose emboldened by a synthetic aldehydic note, the famous substance that made of Chanel N°5 so successful. The end note is a blend of so-called chypre nuances: oakmoss, vetiver, cypress, cedar and sandalwood, with a refined topping of iris powder.
History
Hermes was the first designer of fine leather goods to take the risk of launching a perfume, despite the fact that the brand name was little-known at the time, had a masculine image and reputedly "frightening" prices. Business considerations dictated the choices, and Hermes opted for an aldehydic floral scent, a sure thing back then, in the 60's. The name Calèche is the hallmark of the brand's refined, tasteful universe. The quality and coherence of the components were such that Hermes succeeded in making a name for itself in the tradition and savoir-faire of French perfumery.
Bottle
The shape of the bottle resembles a stylized coach lamp.

Un parfum au a une véritable signature. On le reconnaît parmi plusieurs parfums Mais personnellement je n'aime pas son évolution olfactive. J'ai une amie au le porte et à elle va lui va à merveille.

Je le portais quand j'avais 20 ans (c'était au siècle précédent), je l'ai adoré, et je ne l'aime plus. Mais il reste un grand beau parfum.

Je viens de lire dans le commentaire de DRYNE72 que le N°19 était un chypré. Je me permets de rectifier et de le classer dans les verts...

Les parfums ne sont pas faits pour une mamie ou une jeune fille. Ils n'ont pas d'âge. C'est notre peau qui, elle, a ses propres particularités. Calèche, Shalimar, Habanita, Magie Noire... Tous ces parfums m'allaient bien dans la vingtaine tout comme dans la cinquantaine. Tout est aussi une histoire de dosage et ça c'est pour tous les parfums, même mes "girlys".
