What to do when your perfume bottle won't spray? 3 methods to work again

09 june 2022

You went to an outlet or an online store and ordered a perfume possessing a perfect scent and can’t wait to apply it on, but for some reason, your fragrance doesn’t spray, and you decided to trash it away. That’s a thing from the past! We know how heartbreaking it is when you see thick drops dripping from the nozzle instead of getting sprinkles of aroma. But you can’t just trash such high-end perfumes that you bought with all your heart. It’s the worst feeling. So, here we are with some ideas or methods to make your favorite scent start spraying again.

Fix your perfume’s nozzle

When you’re trying your best to get your perfume bottle to spray out any amount of fragrance, but all you get are a few coarse drips or nothing, you should assume that the spray nozzle is damaged, clogged, or broken. Fixing it allows the spray bottle to work again. Here are some of the methods you can use to try and bring your perfume spray back to its former glory.

Method 1: Place Spray Nozzle In Hot Water

To fix a perfume spray nozzle, you may remove it from the top of the cologne bottle. Use a fine needle to poke a hole where the fluid appears to have been collected. Heat a cup of water in the microwave for 30 seconds and drop the spray nozzle into the cup. After three minutes, take it out and dry it with tissue paper. Before putting it back on your perfume bottle, blow hard into the nozzle hole and see if you can blow through to the other side of the nozzle. It can help quickly remove the liquid that is blocking the spray pump. Then give it a few tries; it might start working if the perfume nozzle is clogged.

Method 2: Loosen Your Nozzle

Try unscrewing the nozzle cap by turning it counterclockwise, a quarter turn, and respraying it. It will work if the nozzle is too tight. Then your sprayer may now be working. After learning this out, you’ll probably wonder how simple this was. And it is for sure that you might have disposed of a 100% working perfume without even knowing that it was so easy to fix.

Method 3: Applying Pressure

An easy fix is getting a piece of tape and wrapping it around the nozzle. Or you can hold your finger against the nozzle and use your other finger to pump your cologne. Pump it about 10-15 times. Then pull up your finger, and whether your perfume spray’s or not. If not, try exposing it with alcohol-soaked cotton swabs to create an S-shape. Keep twirling until the clog is removed or breakthrough to the very end.

What if your perfume still refuses to spray?

Instead of killing time, you can opt to follow one of the following suggestions. Both of them have their pros and cons. To deal with your clogged perfume, you should read out both options and evaluate which one works the best for you.

Replace Your Perfumes Nozzle

The nozzle works with two tiny pipes at a perfect right angle to draw up liquid vertically and then horizontally shoot it into a fine mist. If these tubes aren’t at a perfect 90-degree angle, or if dust or thick liquid has built up in one of them, the pumping mechanism is compromised, and the pressure is not enough to turn the fragrance into a fine mist. If your nozzle squirts out perfume instead of atomizing, you should try an atomizer pump to pressurize the spray pumping mechanism or replace the nozzle if the problem is with the perfume nozzle. Anything that can’t solve by putting the nozzle in hot water warrants pumps replacement.

Use a Perfume Atomizer bottle

Using a perfume atomizer is a great solution when your perfume nozzle isn’t working. Still, it can seem almost redundant when you can easily replace your perfume nozzle with about the same investment of time and money as it takes to buy a mini atomizer bottle. However, it can give you better value for money as the nozzle replacement is only valuable until the perfume bottle lasts. Every new perfume you buy has a working nozzle. Ask yourself what you will do with your newly purchased perfume sprayer. However, an atomizer can be used for a long time, even when the current perfume with its defective nozzle runs out of aroma.
