Brazen, sumptuous, romantic, Magazine street is an opulent magnolia that holds court under exotic arches of vanilla and patchouli, delighted by the brazen intimations of vetiver and botanical musk.

Alexandra Balahoutis, perfumer and founder of Strange Invisible Perfumes, native from Los Angeles, with family ties to Hollywood, created Magazine Street to celebrate New Orleans, and its cultural melange. Its sultry notes capture the city’s mesmerizing facades: balconies of black iron lace and the lush narrative of the city’s historic Garden Distric. 8% of retail sales from every fragrance bottle of Magazine Street supports the Katrina relief work of Common Ground Collective (, a non profit providing immediate aid and long-term support to sustainably rebuild devastated communities in the New Orleans area. Magazine Street is part of the Strange Invisible Perfumes Signature Collection, made of more than 20 ethereal complex perfumes, all crafted from the finest botanical ingredients. Available at select Barneys stores, the Strange Invisible Perfumes boutique and perfumery in Los Angeles, or online at For more info:

Treating and mixing the delightful magnolia with green notes, patchouli, vetiver and vanilla seems so modern and rebellious. I don't know if white florals were used. This is worth a try.

Un parfum en hommage à la Nouvelle-Orléans, résultat d'un véritable brassage culturel et ethnique.
