Why should you not rub perfume? Break this bad habit

30 april 2022

The reflexive practice of misting perfume on your wrists and then rubbing them against each other is what erodes the original smell of the perfume. This is because rubbing warms up the area and modifies the fragrance path. This act would quickly wear down at least two notes of your favorite perfume.

Moreover, perfume is a substance meant to sit on your skin, not something that should absorb into the skin cells. In short, putting on perfume is effortless; however, properly wearing a scent needs a bit more expertise and care. Please read this article to know where and how to spritz your perfume to make it last longer on you.

Make the scent last longer

Want your scent to stick around throughout the day? There are some easy techniques you can use to ensure a long-lasting fragrance. Firstly, spritz it on yourself right after a shower. After a shower, the body temperature is relatively high, making it easier for the scent to stay for longer. Since the skin is clean and sweat-free, it is an ideal environment for the longevity of your perfume. Is even better to moisturize your skin first and then spray some droplets on your body.

not rub perfume avoid this mistake

Perfume yourself after applying a little layer of neutral body cream or a dab of Vaseline. Such moisturizers make your skin smooth and silky, but they also often provide a surface for the fragrance elements to cling to your skin and ensure perfume longevity. Of course, you should not lather yourself up with a scented moisturizer as it will mix up with your perfume's smell and produce a confusing odor. However, many brands have perfumes and moisturizers that go well with each other. Layer such products on top of each other to get an everlasting smell.

Secondly, diffusing your scent instead of focusing on a particular area is the best way to make it pleasing but not overbearing. To accentuate your aroma pleasingly rather than entirely cover it. Please put it on your nerves rather than slathering the scent all across your body. You can also Spritz your perfume in the air and walk into it. This trick will drape your clothing with a subtle fragrance and ensure that you are not fully engulfed. Feel free to spritz your favorite scent on your clothes as well. However, make sure not to do it on silk clothes as the alcohol can stain them. Moreover, the scent will work differently on your clothes compared to how it does on your skin. The same smell may feel somewhat distinct or subtle as it'll interact differently with fabric.

Lastly, you can also spritz your heart (quite literally!). The idea behind this is that pulse points hold on to the fragrance for much longer durations, and the heart is the place where the pulse is the strongest. In this way, spritzing perfume on your heart will make it alleviate the scent so that it travels all around you.

Avoid these mistakes at all costs

Just like rubbing your wrists can break the perfume game, applying too much scent can also create disasters. Since no one likes strong overpowering scents that give a headache, you should keep the number of sprays limited to 3 or 4. However, you can reapply at different times of the day to keep smelling fresh. The warm temperature and sweat in the daytime may make it necessary to reapply the scent. If you sense that your perfume has faded during this time, you can spritz another one or two sprays.

Secondly, Colognes that darken in hue or grow opaque indicates getting old. Alcohol-based fragrances tend to vaporize, leaving the oils considerably more diluted in the bottle. So the discolored liquid you see in the bottle is leftover from the evaporated perfume. Avoid using such perfumes at all costs as they may end up irritating your skin or causing an allergic reaction

Thirdly, never apply cologne or perfume when you feel like you're sweating profusely. Instead, let the sweat dry off completely before applying perfume. When you spritz perfume in such a state, your body's natural oils mix and produce a strong, pungent odor. Unless you want to be called a skunk, stay away from this mistake.
