Source

Hyacinths come from Asia Minor and the Balkans.

Extraction Method

Hyacinth absolute is obtained through extraction with volatile solvents. Since the manufacture of this absolute is virtually non-existent, perfumers reconstitute it artificially.

Use

Used mainly in floral notes as a fixative.

History

In Greek mythology, Apollo and Hyacinthus were friends. One day they were playing at discus-throwing, when Zephyr, the god of the winds, in a fit of jealousy, made the west wind wind blow the discus and hit Hyacinthus on the head, killing him instantly. The grief-stricken Apollo grew hyacinths from his dead friend's blood so as to remember him forever. Medicinal properties A vital scent that induces a feeling of eternal youth.
