A new shopping concept for Clinique customers

09 march 2015

Beauty shopping has gone one step up with Clinique’s « Service as you like it ». Inspired by women and their new shopping habits, Clinique designed three wristbands that send a clear message to consultants:

The green wristband says : « I have time, let’s talk ». For customers who are open to spontaneous interaction with consultants.

The white wristband declares : « Time is of the essence ». Wear it if you are happy to shop alone, and decide when you need assistance.

And finally the pink wristband to signify « Browsing and happy » in case you would rather browse, pick up and test products yourself.

Clinique has always offered innovative service tools to shoppers, one of the most popular ones being the Clinique’s Skin Diagnostic Tool on the iPad.

But make up you own mind! If you happen to be in New York, try it at Macy’s Herald Square where each Clinique consultant is wearing a personal mini iPad mobile diagnostic, for a one-to-one skin care analysis.

I like the concept! it keeps consultants from putting customers on hold who may be ready for assistance because they are approaching others who may have arrived first, but are not looking for assistance at the moment. It lets them know right away that I would like service, and it reduces misinterpretations between consultants and consumers!

I think the idea is unique & interesting but I prefer the old & usual way of "Hi, I need help, could you direct me...." ask the shop assistant for assistance if need be. Many people may not even notice the wrist bands, often mistake it for a normal wrist band or bangle of some sort.
