Nearly 10 years since 9/11, New York is as vibrant, energetic and charismatic as ever. Fashion and fragrance are part of the scene, with lots of new brands to sniff out in the city’s department stores. New York also offers a creative setting for European brands looking for new ideas. |

As for major brands, even oh-so-French Chanel has been inspired by New York. For their latest men’s scent, BLEU de Chanel, a fresh woody-aromatic scheduled for release in August, the house sent the fragrance’s face, actor Gaspard Ulliel, to New York. Pulsing with energy and mystery, Manhattan provides the perfect late-night cityscape for the commercial, shot by none other than Martin Scorsese. |

Another celebrity famous for her affection to “the City” is Carrie Bradshaw… or rather Sarah Jessica Parker, who incarnates the Sex & the City heroine’s whimsical charm in the ad for her latest fragrance. Christened SJP NYC, the scent was indeed inspired by Carrie Bradshaw’s glamorously colorful New York lifestyle. Gardenia, mimosa and rose intertwine with notes of wild strawberry and rum in a colorful bottle. |
