Camille Goutal follows in her mother's footsteps

Camille Goutal discovered the joys of working with fragrances through her mother who was a perfume creator. Filled with a passion that never left her, she passed on the legacy to her daughter. "We must teach children how to smell very early on."

Camille Goutal still remembers the first perfumes that were practically created before her eyes. She was only five then. "And yet, she admits, my mother was already asking me if I liked the composition. She used to let me choose."

Today the daughter of Annick Goutal, the founder of the perfume line bearing her name, is a fragrance-lover. "They've always been a part of my life. I find it impossible to live in sterilized and odorless places. Sniffing fragrances is a pleasure like no other. As a matter of fact, smell is the most developed sense."
Raised among flowers, she is particularly receptive to fresh and natural scents. "I'm doing what my mother did with me – teaching my 24 months-old daughter to smell, most of all flowers. She loves it."

Camille is a photographer by trade, yet she spends a lot of time with Isabelle Doyen, the nose of the company. Her passion for perfumes naturally led her to try her hand at creation. She has just created two fragrances that almost go against the tide – single flower perfumes celebrating the violet and the lily of the valley. "I enjoy these fragile flowers, their soft fragrance is delicious, and I know my mother liked them a lot." Thanks to these two scents, Camille has taken over the torch of olfactive creation from her mother.
