Two new men are becoming faces of fragrances: Fendi wil... Go

Fall usually means winter’s cold is on its way, yet this fall brought a large crop of citrus scents. Among the new items in the citrus category you’ll find: Dior Homme Sport, Guerlain Homme, Splash Fig (Marc Jacobs), Lalique White, Hippy Fizz (Moschino) and the less mainstream Prelude to Love (By Kilian) and Yuzu Fou (Parfum d’Empire). It’s true that citrus scents have managed a make-over. For women, some brands are favoring a new olfactory category, citrus-florals, a sort of cross between an eau fraîche and a fruity floral. These include Euphoria Blossom (C Klein) and Hippy Fizz. Brands are also playing with citrus’s potential for modern seduction. Forget about orange, nowadays it’s all ruby orange (or blood orange), like in Gaultier’s Ma Dame (1 Million by Paco Rabanne features a ruby mandarin-orange note. Instead of boasting a lemony note, “citron” is the flavor of the month (Dior, Chanel, Hugo Boss…). Of course, citron is nearly identical to lemon (indeed, the word citron means lemon in French), although cedrat, the French word for citron, gives a woodsy twist by making it seem closer to cedar. Another option: play the color card (green mandarin orange, pink grapefruit) or go exotic, especially with yuzu, which instantly evokes Japan, or combava (kaffir lime), reminiscent of the islands.
