Karl Lagerfeld

Though his own ready-to-wear collection - Lagerfeld Gallery - met with a huge success in March, once again, Karl Lagerfeld displays the full measure of his talent, as he is still the creative director of Chanel and Fendi.. (04/2001)

In his permanent quest for innovation, this big fan of photography and literature has just founded his own publishing company that he called 7L. The books are sold at his bookstore located at 7 rue de Lille, in Paris. But that's not all. This designer-cum art director-cum publisher proposes his new Lagerfeld Woman fragrance: an explosion of freshness and modernity. Lagerfeld was personally involved in the creation of the fragrance.

What eau de toilette or perfume do you like?

My new Lagerfeld Woman perfume that I created with Christine Nagel or Quest and Jicky of Guerlain

What was your first fragrance?

Moustache de Rochas.

What perfumes did your parents wear?

My mother liked Mitsouko by Guerlain, Joy by Patou and Fleurs de Rocaille by Caron. Is there any scent that brings back memories?
Yes, the smell of fresh bread reminds me of my childhood.

What smell do you dislike?

Old brands of perfumes that have been improved and heady perfumes bother me.

What is your favorite scent?

Tangerine, especially green tangerine as it is tangier. As a matter of fact, there is tangerine in the pyramid of Lagerfeld Woman.

Do you stick with a particular perfume?

In fact, yes. I am relatively faithful to my perfumes. Not always, but pretty much in general. I often change perfumes, but I always go back to my classics like Lagerfeld Classic.

Which perfumes do you like to smell on your friends and relatives?

Whichever suits them...
