Melon is a fruit in the cucurbitaceous family, like zucchini, squash, pumpkin and cucumber. Its geographic origins are as diverse as its many varieties: cantaloupe, casaba, honeydew, musk and more.
As for many juicy fruits, it isn’t possible to obtain an essential oil through extraction. To reproduce the fruit’s fragrance, lab techniques like headspace are used.
The melon note brings an intense fruity scent to compositions for both men and women. Its presence is also used to develop aquatic or water-fruit tonalities.
Melon is known for its excellent gustatory qualities. It is served as is, as an appetizer or dessert, in fruit salad, sherbets and ice cream. The oil obtained from the seeds is used in cosmetics.
