Guerlain offers you a moment of sweetness and light with Lys Soleia, the latest fragrance in their Aqua Allegoria collection. The blend of lily and ylang-ylang will instantly transport you to the heart of a sunny garden.

Kristen Stewart: the new face of Balenciaga

After Charlotte Gainsbourg, Balenciaga perfumes have invited another actress to be their latest face.

Kristen Stewart, the famous star of the Twilight saga, was picked for ‘her modern elegance and her innately rebellious style.’ Not quite 22 years old, the actress was the obvious choice to incarnate the image of Balenciaga’s next perfume, artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière explains.

The launch is scheduled for 2012. As for the fragrance and its composition, we’ll be revealing more info soon on osMoz.

New fragrances: amber is back!

Are you a fan of amber scents? Lucky you – lately, amber seems to be inspiring perfumers more than ever...

Need a refresher? Originally, amber was a fossilized resin that was very popular with jewelry designers. But in perfumery, amber is an accord composed of warm, spicy, vanilla and balsamic notes.

Nowadays, amber-based fragrances are often unisex, like Jovoy’s Ambre Premier, a slightly gourmand scent that ‘leaves a sensual trail on the skin; that je ne sais quoi that makes all the difference’, the in-the-know brand explains. Ambre Nue, the sixth creation from Atelier Cologne, which will be unveiled in 2012, is another unisex amber fragrance.

Men’s scents have also been experimenting with amber recently. Like Prada, with their Amber Intense pour Homme, a woody oriental that ‘sings the praises of amber in its classic form.’ Hugo Boss has chosen to pair amber with velvet in Velvet & Amber, in their “Boss the Collection” line that pairs fabrics and scents. In Velvet & Amber, velvet, which was traditionally reserved for royalty, expresses amber’s precious, jewel-like aspect.

More than just an accord, amber carries us off to a suave and mysterious world, and can be seen as a continuation of the Arabian nights fragrance trend. La Sultane de Saba presents their first fragrance: Ambre Musc Santal. It’s a vanilla composition inspired by the spa and cosmetics brand’s 1,001-nights atmosphere… just as Armani dreamt up Ambre Orient for their Armani Privé 1001 Nuits collection, which pays tribute to the Middle east’s most luxurious fragrance ingredients. And niche brand Les Sens de Marrakech unveiled Ambre, a colorful perfume steeped in Moroccan culture and traditions.

And of course, anyone who loves this sweet and sensual note will already know – or should definitely try – the most classic amber scent of them all: Serge Lutens’s Ambre Sultan. As well as Reminiscence’s Ambre, Hermès’s Ambre Narguilé and Dior’s Ambre Nuit... a woody-oriental that they recently brought out as a candle.

Celebrities: a wedding, a perfume, a divorce

There’s a wind of separation blowing through celebrity society… and Kim Kardashian isn’t going to contradict us. When the middle sister filed for divorce just 72 days after marrying basketball player Kris Humphries, it was a real media circus.

The sisters are big on basketball players! Khloé Kardashian, the youngest of the three, is married to Lamar Odom, another basketball player. They are the happy parents of… Unbreakable, a unisex scent that came out last spring.

To cheer herself up, Kim Kardashian will soon be launching her third scent. After Kim Kardashian and Gold, this spring she will unveil True Reflection, which will be ‘really different from my previous fragrances’ she has announced. To be continued…

Another star has also recently been in the headlines both for her divorce and for the release of her latest perfume! Who? Heidi Klum, of course! The top model, and m.c. of Project Runway will be separating from singer Seal after 7 years of marriage and four children… and just a few months after launching Summer Shine, a sunny flanker for her floriental Shine.

In fact, singers seem to be having more than their share of divorces, lately. Last July, Jennifer Lopez announced her divorce from singer Marc Anthony. And Katy Perry is leaving British actor Russel Brand after a year. But neither young woman will have time to mope: they’re both working on upcoming new perfumes! J-lo will be unveiling the latest variation on her floral, Glow, later this year. And Katy Perry has been inspired by cats once again: after her first fragrance, Purr, fans will soon be able to try Meow!.

Dior Homme Sport gets a new look

For spring 2012, Dior Homme Sport gets a change of scenery. Their new ad, set on the French Riviera, has a ‘chic travel’ feel to it.

For the occasion, Dior Homme Sport has been reworked with a floral note: iris. It offers a ray of sunshine that doesn’t clash with the key citrus-woody accord. The packaging has been slightly redone as well, in a pinstripe pattern with vintage accents.

An updated fragrance that is still incarnated by Jude Law and his ‘laid-back elegance’… Like a nod to Christian Dior’s art de vivre.

Refined, sophisticated and boldly adventurous, Dior Homme Sport heads south!

Diptyque puts the spotlight on rose

This spring is going to be the season of the rose at Diptyque, where they’re paying tribute to the sensual queen of flowers.

For the occasion, the house presents Eau Rose, a new fragrance in their Eaux Parfumées collection. The ‘mischievously tart opening of bergamot and cassis’ enhances damascena and centifolia roses’ glamorous tonalities.

And if you want to grace your interior with the scent of roses too, Diptyque has also unveiled their Rosa Mundi candle. The scent is ‘soothing, romantic and sparkling all at once,’ just like its muse, Rosamund Clifford, King Henry II of England’s mistress.

Lalique celebrates 20 years of fragrance and unveils lots of new items

In 2012, Lalique Fragrances is celebrating their 20th anniversary…

For the occasion, Lalique is unveiling a new men’s fragrance: Hommage à l’Homme is a spicy-floral wood scent warmed up with oud wood and saffron. In addition to the eau de toilette version, the extract, in a ‘signed and numbered’ crystal bottle (on the left in the photo) is available for men who appreciate exceptional bottles.

Lalique is also paying homage to their mythical signature scent: Lalique, a lovely powdery-woodsy floral that was launched in 1992. The house is presenting a signed, numbered and limited crystal edition (in the middle on the photo) as well as other collectible editions for the eau de parfum and the eau de toilette (on the right on the photo).

These collectible editions are graced with a jasmine pendant made of golden metal… or Lalique crystal, for one bottle out of 20! Will you get lucky?

Axe is getting into fragrances for women now too!

A perfume signed Axe? After Playboy a few months back, now Axe is going to try to attract women too. Already available in several countries, their women’s scent is called Anarchy. Now there’s a suggestive name!

With more than 2.3 million ‘likes’ on Facebook, Axe polled their fans. So to be sure to please their target market, Unilever, who owns Axe, decided to launch the perfume as part of a pair. So there’s Anarchy for Her, and for Him.

Blending provocation, humor and sensuality, the video is totally faithful to the spirit of Axe ads.

As for the fragrances, what the two elements have in common is a very fruity opening. Then the women’s version goes soft and floral, while the men’s gets lusher and more oriental.

For the moment, Anarchy for Her has been announced as a limited edition. But it could well enter the catalogue if the launch is a success!

Miss Dior Chérie is now… Miss Dior

Reworked in 2011 by François Demachy, Dior’s house perfumer, Miss Dior Chérie’s new name is Miss Dior!

By the same token, Miss Dior Chérie L’Eau is now Miss Dior Eau Fraîche.

So what about Miss Dior? What happened to the green-floral-chypry scent from 1947 that was inspired by Christian Dior’s New Look?

Don’t worry! Fans of that fragrance can still find it, by the name of Miss Dior Eau de Toilette Originale… just as the extract version is now called Miss Dior Extrait de Parfum Original. You still with me?

In any case, Natalie Portman’s many fans can rest assured, the actress is still the face of the modern fruity-floral-chypry scent… whether you call it Miss Dior or Miss Dior Chérie!
