Cherry blossom brings warmth in winter

Hyacinth, mimosa… rare are the flowers that bloom in the middle of winter. In perfumery however, there’s another one: cherry blossom. And it’s even trendier when it comes from Japan, where the blooming of the cherry trees is honored with a holiday and festivals. This year, two new cherry-blossom scents are coming in February: Japanese Cherry Blossom from The Body Shop and Cherry Blossom delight, a new interpretation of Guerlain’s Cherry Blossom. As far as the notes go, The Body Shop’s fragrance is a fruity-floral over a musky drydown, and Guerlain’s is fresher thanks to green tea. For other cherry-blossom soliflores, why not try (or rediscover) Hanami (which means ‘go see the cherry trees in bloom’) from the Japanese brand Annayaké, or Cerisier en Fleurs (Cherry Tree in Bloom”) from the Grasse-based brand Fragonard.
