The green opening of galbanum and lentisk, which ensures the scent’s freshness, is sweetened with a soupçon of orange blossom and mandarin orange for a cologne effect. The heart of iris soon turns woodsy thanks to notes of cedar and vetiver. A light sensuality emanates from the dry-down, which is both sweet and oriental, thanks to frankincense and benzoin. Very similar to Infusion d’Iris, it is nevertheless distinguished by a more aldehyde-y, sparkling opening thanks to mandarin orange and neroli, which ‘exalt the clean and comfortable aspects’. The iris heart veers towards woods with cedar and vetiver, and the fragrance evolves towards a sweet, lightly oriental trail of benzoin and frankincense. Designed by: Daniela Andrier, Givaudan.

The fragrance’s four axes contain the following notes. Vibrant: Indonesian Patchouli leaves, Virginia Cedar, Lemon, Mandarin Orange, Neroli and Italian Bergamot. Sumptuous: French Ladanum, Guatemalan Cardamom, South American Maté leaves. Fluid: Siamese Benzoin, French Plum accord. Iridescent: Sandalwood and Sambac Jasmine from India, Haitian Vetiver. Prada pour Homme was composed over a rich, complex Amber trail (vanilla, tonka bean, ladanum, patchouli) softened by a Fern accord (geranium, vetiver, orange blossom, myrrh, nirvanolide musk) calling to mind the scent of shaving soap. A fresh ‘Cologne’ facet (bergamot, mandarin orange, neroli, cardamom) and a ‘Suede’ one (leather, saffron, sandalwood) bring extra depth. Perfume designer: Daniela Andrier.

Prada’s first fragrant creation is a woodsy oriental composed by Max Gavarry and Carlos Benaïm (IFF). In accordance with Miuccia Prada’s wishes, it is a reinterpretation of traditional perfumery using the finest essences, made from flower absolutes (mimosa, rose) and wood (patchouli) over a base of sandalwood, benzoin and labdanum.
