The very aldehyde-y opening, paired with flower oxide notes, confers a metallic effect. In the heart, the blend of May rose and lilac brings the fragrance a lightly almondy facet … together, they make the whole fairly hard to classify. The close combines two fairly surprising accords: industrial-strength glue and adhesive tape! A dash of styrax orientalizes the composition. Perfumers: Antoine Maisondieu and Antoine Lie, Givaudan.

Chalayan Airborne opens with citrus and neroli for an aromatic effect. The heart reveals green notes of lentisk (a.k.a. pistachio-nut tree) spiced up with juniper berry. The somewhat warmer drydown is sweet and woody with a slightly resinous side to it.

Wonderwood has a sweet, classical construction. You breathe in notes of sandalwood, cedar and patchouli as well as other, more velvety ones, like cashmeran, with its balmier, more resinous accents. The scent also boasts notes of: cypress, oud wood (a.k.a. agarwood), gaiac wood (a.k.a. saintwood), vetiver, javanol (‘the new generation of sandalwood’), pachminol (an ingredient with ‘notes of sandalwood, plus hints of balsam and rose’). The woods have been slightly sharpened with spicy notes of pepper, frankincense, caraway and nutmeg.
