The top, aromatic, note is dominated by verbena, sage and chamomile, which give way to the sweet floral notes of geranium, rose and white flowers: ylang ylang, jasmine and tuberose.The moss-green end note is characteristic of the chypre family, marrying the intensity of patchouli with oakmoss and vetiver.

Chamomile gets the first dance, then comes vivacious Bulgarian rose. The heart reveals a bouquet of white flowers: ylang-ylang and with lily-of-the-valley wrapped around jasmine. Patchouli, the original scent’s signature note, is tied to ‘shimmering ribbons’ of vetiver and amber.

Simply radiates an aura of mystery and sensuality. Its ultra-simple composition highlights notes that are pure symbols of gentleness and discreet femininity. Gone is the traditional breakdown into top, middle and basenotes; Raymond Matts built this scent around three notions:clarity, comfort and intimacy. Though Clinique calls this warmly luminous scent an Oriental, it doesn’t fall back on any of that family’s classical notes, like vanilla, which is replaced with soymilk here.
