Even when he was working for Firmenich, Thierry Wasser had already been responsible for the Guerlain fragrances Iris Ganache and Quand Vient la Pluie. Jean-Paul Guerlain, 71, will stay on in an advisory role, as a counselor to the presidency, for both fragrance design and ingredients. As for Thierry Wasser, he will be working in close collaboration with Sylvaine Delacourte, director of evaluation and of perfume design since 2002. Wasser is best-known as the designer (or co-designer) of hypnôse (Lancôme, 2005) and Dior Addict (Dior, 2002), two scents in which vanilla, the signature note at Guerlain, is preponderant. In the news, and in the world of perfumes, too, references abound to that era of freedom, rebellion and creativity. A special anniversary report. More and more brands have been going for them lately. Over the past few years, ribbons have entered the world of perfume as a luxury version of the tester strip. Offered by brands like Hermès and Narciso Rodriguez, the tester ribbon tied around the customer’s wrist combines elegance and efficiency (persistence for the perfume and visibility for the brand). Lately, ribbons have been accessorizing a lot of bottles, too. Following in the footsteps of trendsetters like Agent Provocateur and Lanvin’s Rumeur, ribbons are everywhere this season: Chloé, le b. (Agnès b.), Givenchy’s “vintage harvest” collection, Réminiscence’s do ré and mi fa, and more. Sometimes the ribbons are tied loosely around the neck of the bottle, other times they’re presented more formally, like a nod to the traditional “baudruchage” method of sealing perfume bottles to prevent evaporation (Lanvin, Givenchy). For couturier Max Mara, the wide, gray satin ribbon, hand-tied around the bottle and the cap is practically the bottle’s signature.
Thu, 15 May 2008 15:34:00 +0200 http://www.osmoz.com/News-Trends/News/TRENDS/New-codes-for-luxury-it-s-all-in-the-ribbon Special event: Stanislassia Klein party
Klein, the designer behind the Stella Cadente brand, threw a huge party on April 11, 08.
The festivities included a fashion show featuring dancers from famed Parisian cabarets Crazy Horse and Moulin Rouge. osMoz was there, and we grabbed the chance to ask the guests about their preferences in perfume.
Thu, 15 May 2008 15:29:50 +0200 http://www.osmoz.com/News-Trends/osMoz-TV/Special-event-Stanislassia-Klein-party All About Flowers A lot of different fragrances – for women and even some for men – smell like flowers.
