Délice des Fruits: L’Occitane treats us to a collection that’s both tart and sweet

L’Occitane will make you pucker up with their collection of fragrant bath and body products: Délice des Fruits Citron & Clementine.

As the scent-maker was crisscrossing his native Provence region, he stumbled across a former distillery that had been turned into a confectioner’s. Old-fashioned candy-makers were busy in two different workshops: in one, ‘sugar was gently coating delicate local flowers, while in the second, it was preserving sun-gorged clementines and lemons,’ the house explains.

A whole range of particularly tempting products was born of this encounter. Fans of all things gourmand will be torn between the lip balm, the scented soap, the body cream and the hand lotion. Also worth trying: the fragrance diffuser, bath balls and gourmand candle. So many sweet choices, so little time!

We particularly liked: the tart shower jelly, with its unctuous feel to it.

Looks like the holidays are going to have a sparkling scent to them!

Bois Brûlé, Ambre Nuit: two new candles signed Christian Dior

After 30 Montaigne, Eau Noire and Bois d’Argent, Dior is launching two new candles. Look out for Bois Brûle (“Burnt Wood”) and Ambre Nuit, which will be joining Christian Dior’s Collection Privée’s home fragrance range.

Like 30 Montaigne, Bois Brûle, with its whiffs of precious woods and cedar, evokes a place that was dear to Christian Dior’s heart. This candle is redolent of the cozy fireplaces that Christian Dior loved to light in his country homes.

Ambre Nuit is a sophisticated, seductive fragrance. The ‘highly concentrated and strongly scented’ candle blends rose and ambergris.

Created in collaboration with master wax-maker Perron Rigot, both of these candles ‘express the luxury, nobility and high standards’ of the House of Dior.

Gourmand alert: this winter, candles are unveiling tasty new scents!

Anyone who has a sweet tooth will be sure to enjoy Laura Mercier Christmas candle collection. The American cosmetics brand has revisited several sweet treats. Look out for Roasted Chestnuts, Lemon Pie and even… Crème Brûlee. Good enough to eat!

For those who prefer savory snacks, Ladurée was thinking of you. Frédéric Malle: three new candles and a book

Les Editions de Parfums is launching 3 new scented candles. And for his biggest fans, Frédéric Malle is bringing out a book, too.

The 3 new candles were dreamt up by perfumer Bruno Jovanovic. Lovers of the smell of frankincense in churches will enjoy Notre Dame. Fans of Provence, Marseille and whiffs of pastis won’t be able to resist the Marius & Jeannette candle. The third creation, Chez Monsieur, is redolent of a salon where waves of wood and tobacco mingle with the smell of old leather-bound books.

And as of December 2, the book, De L’Art du Parfum,(“About the Art of Perfume”) is also available for sale. This illustrated book recounts the history of each of the house’s creations, and invites you to meet the perfumers that made them.

Available in French, English and German, the book’s preface is by Catherine Deneuve, a huge fan of perfume who reveals, ‘I was faithful to Guerlain’s L’Heure Bleue…until I discovered Frédéric Malle’s perfumes.
