For the holidays, Guerlain presents three of its classic perfumes in collectible versions. The metallic-hued bottles echo the original lines and seal of Mitsouko (1919). The bottles come in gold for Shalimar, pink for L’Instant Magic and gray for Insolence (see photo).

After inviting designers like Kenya Hara (Kenzo Power), Karim Rashid (Kenzo Amour) and the brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec (Flower by Kenzo and Kenzo Amour body lines), Kenzo fragrances is calling on another talented designer: Ron Arad, who has deisgned a new skin scent for the company (perfumer: Aurélien Guichard). This “UFO of a fragrance” has no name and will be launched in Kenzo boutiques on March 10. Until then, you can see it at the ‘Ron Arad - No Discipline’ exhibit at the Centre Pompidou (the Modern Art Museum with the colorful pipes on the outside) in Paris, through March 16, ‘09.

Crystal bodies from Lalique

Lagerfeld en-Kapsulates fragrance

Karl Lagerfeld is taking center stage in fragrance this fall with a new line christened Kapsule – with a K as in Karl. Renowned as both a fashion designer – most notably for Chanel – and a photographer, Lagerfeld’s creations in his own name never quite caught on, at least not his fragrances, which never broke out of their niche. For this launch, Karl Lagerfeld is innovating with not just one, but three fragrances presented in designer packages. The 3 compositions for him or her – Light, Floriental and Woody – aim to recreate ‘a simplissimo and luxurious olfactory dressing room, as chic and accessible as an encapsulated wardrobe – and as rich in possibilities.’ Three celebrated perfumers collaborated on the Kapsule line: Emilie Coppermann, Olivier Cresp and Mark Buxton. At the end of the month, Calvin Klein will be launching a trendy young collectible version of his hip, unisex scent, ck one. The ‘flashy, festive red’ packaging dreamt up by Fabien Baron draws on hip-hop and r’n’b cultures. The fragrance comes in a 3.4-oz. spray bottle.
