Diptyque puts the spotlight on rose

This spring is going to be the season of the rose at Diptyque, where they’re paying tribute to the sensual queen of flowers.

For the occasion, the house presents Eau Rose, a new fragrance in their Eaux Parfumées collection. The ‘mischievously tart opening of bergamot and cassis’ enhances damascena and centifolia roses’ glamorous tonalities.

And if you want to grace your interior with the scent of roses too, Diptyque has also unveiled their Rosa Mundi candle. The scent is ‘soothing, romantic and sparkling all at once,’ just like its muse, Rosamund Clifford, King Henry II of England’s mistress.

To enjoy this ode to rose to the fullest, Diptyque invites you to visit their flagship store, on Paris’s Boulevard de Saint Germain. They have created a dreamily poetical rose garden there that awaits you through mid-March, 2012…

Are you fed up with winter’s cold and bad weather? Well, Annick Goutal is too! In fact, the house decided to celebrate springtime with four harbingers of the season…

How? With a collection de 4 fragrances entitled simply Les Soliflores (“Single-Flower Scents”). Just for a season, Camille Goutal and Isabelle Doyen are giving us a chance to rediscover ‘the fresh, floral and bucolic notes of a violet, a mimosa, a lily-of-the-valley and a centifolia rose’. Let’s get back to the garden, quick!

Inspired by the Pop Art era, the flashy bottles have been adorned with colorful ribbons. Fragrances to wear when you’re in the mood to pretend that spring is around the corner!

Le Mimosa, Rose Splendide, La Violette and Le Muguet (lily-of-the-valley) will be featured in boutiques starting February 15, 2012.

Are you a fan of rare fragrances? Then you’ll want to look out for YS.UZAC. It’s an in-the-know Swiss company with poetic inspiration created by Vincent Micotti. The company’s name is pronounced: ‘isuzak’!

Four unisex scents are already available: LALE is the freshest of the four. It’s citrus-floral scent, with notes of mandarin orange and osmanthus that are reminiscent of a ‘winter journey in blossom land!’

Fruitier and more liqueur-inflected, MONODIE blends waves of mirabelle (a small yellow- orange plum) brandy with grapefruit. There’s also a sheer, almost damp side thanks to freesia and cyclamen. It’s a fragrance to ‘light up the dark blue evening sky.’

As for METABOLES, it’s a ‘bold and fragile exploration of awakened emotions.’ It’s frankly minty opening gets warmed up by tonalities of geranium, tomato leaf and amber.

The classiest of them all is undoubtedly POHADKA, with its notes of immortal flower, liatrix and tobacco, and its slightly camphor-y effect. The fragrance gets a hint of freshness from a pairing of shiso leaves and davana. The scent evokes, ‘A mysterious path of sensation under smoky twilight’

We love: the art-deco bottles with their contemporay chic look. And a special mention for their entertainingly conceptual website.

All four fragrances come in 1.7- and 3.4-oz. bottles. There is even a set of samples available for those who would like to test them!

Hibiscus, Kumquat, Rain: a sneak peek at summer with Marc Jacobs fragrances

If it’s cold outside and you’re dreaming of summer, Marc Jacobs will make you wish it were already here!

His two latest Splash scents, scheduled for spring 2012, are called Hibiscus and Kumquat. Both fragrances, a musky tropical floral and an exotic citrus, were dreamt up by perfumer Richard Herpin, of Firmenich.

The third fragrance, , signed Laurent Le Guernec (IFF) is in fact a rerelease of one of the designer’s earlier Splash scents. This moist floral is back by popular demand, Marc Jacobs explains.Rain

We love: the 3.4-oz. mini-bottles. Mini compared to previous Splashes anyway, as they only came in oversized 10-oz. bottles. These new ones will definitely be easier to pack!

Who is Karl Lagerfeld really? As a couturier, a photographer, a designer and an artist, Karl Lagerfeld is a man of a thousand faces! So what better name could he have found for his latest perfume than… Karleidoscope?
Lagerfeld wanted a playful name for an essence that’s meant to reflect his many talents. As for the fragrance itself, perfumer Christophe Raynaud chose to highlight violets. It’s a ‘flower that’s extroverted, but incredibly chic, too; the kaleidoscopic flower par excellence,’ he explains. Angelica seed, freesia and heliotrope are also on the menu for this floriental.
So if you are chic, feminine and assertive, then your temperament is… karleidoscopic! According to Karl, in any case!

You’re probably aware that Tom Ford makes perfume, but did you know that he has gotten into make-up recently, too? To connect the two, Tom Ford is launching two new fragrances in his Private Blend collection that are in sync with his new make-up range. The Jasmin Rouge woman is ‘as as audacious as lacquered red lips and dark, smoky eyes,’ the couturier explains. The fragrance of the same name is a sensually spicy floral that pairs sambac jasmine absolute with essence of sclary sage, for a scent that is redolent of ‘hedonism and eroticism.’ As for Santal Blush, it is ‘as sensual as beautifully contoured nude skin,’ Tom Ford confides. The matching perfume blends sandalwood with exotic spices to reveal its ‘mesmerizing and mysterious character.’ True fans of Tom Ford style will also want to look out for his perfume Violet Blonde, coming soon. Eau de parfum 1.7 and 8.5 oz., 175 and 420 euros.

1 city = 1 scent! That’s Danish designer Henrik Vibskov’s idea, with 3 unisex scents named Type. Type B (for Berlin) pays tribute to the former East Berlin, with its smells of matches, pepper and woods. Type C is redolent of Copenhagen, the designer’s home and creative base, with the port city’s blend of sea breezes and citrus scents. Type D describes Damascus, and its millennial marketplaces, where the air is redolent with jasmine, orange, vanilla and bergamot. But what about A, Henrik? We here at osMoz could make a few suggestions: A could be for Athens, Alexandria, Atlanta, Alicante, Avignon… or even Anjalankoski! Which, as everybody knows, is in Finland.
