London, Paris, New York or Rome: big cities have always inspired fragrance houses. Iin addition to the culture, the music scene and the party atmosphere, London is a trendy town for fragrance too. Bottled by both Burberry and Paul Smith, London is for each of those two houses a creative vision of the chic, multi-cultural alliance of the capital of Great Britain. In the same way, for fragrance designer Laura Biagiotti, Roma evokes luxury, and the joie de vivre of the Italian capital. Inscribed at the back or bottom of many a perfume bottle, Paris evokes a powerful image, all the more so when it is the fragrance’s very name. Which probably helps to explain why, 25 years on, Yves Saint Laurent’s Paris is still so popular with women. American cities have also been used to baptize fragrances: the classic floral Giorgio Beverly Hills evokes the opulence and glamour of that mythical spot in California, and Jennifer Lopez’s Miami Glow is an homage to the city’s Latino rhythm and spirit. |
