Creations for Men
+ Fruitier and fruitier Scents for Men

For men, an increase in fruity notes has been noticeable over the past few years. Apple, for instance, has met with some success, introduced by fragrances like Hugo (Hugo Boss) and Tommy (Tommy Hilfiger). Other notes, like black currant, water fruits or plum are frequently used in men’s scents for a lively or modern  note, although they stay in the background.

While men may enjoy fruity notes in shower gel and shampoo, fragrance houses have yet to make the leap to a ‘seriously fruity scent’ for men. Citrus fruit, on the other hand, with its ‘classic’ tangy-fruity notes, is often used for its dazzling character. Blended with green, exotic or more Oriental notes, it reinforces the sparkling, fruity character of the new men’s fragrances.

So a frankly fruity opening is noticeable in recent men’s scents like Black XS (Rabanne), Very Irresistible for Men (Givenchy) and Z Zegna (Zegna). Men seem to appreciate the creativity of fragrance designers who have recently offered waves of pear (Obsession Night Men/ C Klein), mango (Polo Black/ Lauren), blackberry (Purple Label/ Lauren) and starfruit (Bright Visit/ Azzaro).
