Themes & Inspirations

With some tweaking of the design of the bottles, Euphoria by Calvin Klein and London by Burberry now come in men’s versions too. At Lacoste, the free spirit and graphic codes of Essential inspired the women’s scent Inspiration.

Variations are also a question of color. Dali goes from red to purple with Purplelips. Lancôme goes purple too, with Miracle Forever. Cerruti’s popular men’s scent 1881 goes black. In the USA, rap diva Kimora Lee Simmons (Baby Phat) unveils the ‘golden’ version of her perfume Goddess.

Brands are also making more intense versions of their signature fragrances, like Cacharel’s new addition to the Noa family of fragrances. There are also variations in the form of elixirs, glamorous or bewitching seasonals that everyone seems to be doing all of a sudden.

Encores

While some fragrances disappear, the world of perfume has had some charming encores too. Thus Nina by Nina Ricci and Rumeur by Lanvin are back with a new look. In both cases, both the fragrance and the bottle have been redesigned. In its apple-shaped bottle, Nina is a fruity-floral scent with mouthwatering accents; Rumeur, a white floral garbed in woodsy musks.

La Collection Lancôme is growing with Mille & Une Roses, an amber-rose scent that reinterprets the seasonal ‘2000 et Une Roses’. Another pleasant surprise, Mayotte, from Guerlain’s ‘Les Parisiennes’ collection, is a remake of the sorely missed Mahora, with its headily sweet floral trail.
