Stars & parfums : cherchez la différence

Faces of different brands, actor brothers, fashion icons… pairing stars and brands is like an entertaining matching game.

Kate Moss : the face of it all
Kate Moss is undoubtedly THE model in demand by perfume houses. A veritable chameleon, whether her hair is short or long, her attitude rebellious, carefree or ultra-glamorous, she always looks perfect, whatever the role. Kate has been the face of Cacharel (Anaïs Anaïs), Chanel (Coco Mademoiselle), YSL (Opium) and Calvin Klein (Obsession), which come from very different olfactory ranges… For fashion brands Longchamp and Burberry, and for the make-up brand Rimmel. And now, with the launch of her first fragrance, Kate, a musky floral shaded with darkly glamorous facets, she’s the face of her own namesake scent, of course.

Kylie : fashion & fragrance

At age 39, Kylie Minogue is everywhere. After a victory over illness and a triumphant return to the stage, the belle had her own exhibit (stage costumes and photos…) at the prestigious Victoria & Albert Museum in London this spring. She recently launched her own brand of perfume, with darling, a chypre floriental, and the sweeter and more gourmand sweet darling. The ad shows Kylie with a sweet, charming face. But she can also has diva attitude, as can be seen in the ad for her summer fashion line with H&M.

The Martinez brothers and fragrance
Olivier Martinez and his younger brother Vincent are both actors. The first is better known, partly because he’s been in more films, (Vincent started his career in music before switching to acting), but mostly because he’s dated some big names, like Kylie Minogue. When it comes to fragrances, Vincent was cast in the ad for Kenzo Air – an airy-musky vetiver – and Olivier is now the face of L’Homme (YSL) – a modern woody-floral scent.

Hugo Boss and actors
Hugo Boss fragrances recently decided to use actors, rather than models, in their ad campaigns. After Frenchman Nicolas Duvauchelle, Irishman Jonathan Rhys Meyer will be incarnating the trendy Hugo man.

Actor Thomas Kretschmann, seen in Polanski’s film The Pianist, is the man for Boss Selection. The very image of a successful man, with an almost aristocratic posture, light years from the look of the ad for Hugo.

Gisèle Bündchen, from bohemian spirit to glamorous diva

Gisèle is another favorite of cosmetics brands. She is currently starring in the ad for liberté (Cacharel), with its 70s bohemian chic spirit. And she’s also the face of The One (Dolce & Gabbana), a more diva-like role…
