Fall 2007 is bursting with new fragrances. And many of the designers you’ve been waiting for are ready. In women’s scents, all eyes are on Yves Saint Laurent’s new perfume, elle, a gentle, modern scent that they hope will do as well as L’Homme, launched a year ago, in fall 2006. Another one we’ve all been waiting for is Infusion d’Iris, a chic, elegant juice, Prada’s second scent for women. But it wouldn’t be fall without stars.
Giorgio Armani has Beyoncé reinterpreting Marilyn Monroe’s ‘Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend,’ to promote Emporio Armani Diamonds. Over at Dior, actress Eva Green, the latest Bond Girl, incarnates sensuality for Midnight Poison. American brands are big on stars too. One of the biggest launches this season will undoubtedly be Covet, the temptingnew perfume from Sarah Jessica Parker. Look for other new scents for women from Marc Jacobs, Ungaro, Vivienne Westwood, and, after 7 years of absence, Shiseido.

We’re looking forward to new big names for men, too. Kenzo unveils a men’s scent inspired by Japan, Lacoste aims for men exuding Elegance, and Issey Miyake unveils a water scent with a trail that’s Intense. And last but not least, after the success of for her, Narciso Rodriguez, is launching for him, a musky fern scent in a streamlined bottle that is almost identical to the one for for her.

There are also several duos to look out for. At Hugo, a pair of trendy yet more mature fragrances flaunt the code names  XX and XY. And clothing brand Diesel is moving into fragrance with Fuel for Life, a boldly sensual duo.

Also worth noting is the arrival on the fragrance scene of some newcomers. Among alternative brands, By Kilian is aiming for the prestige niche, with their L’Oeuvre Noire collection and fragrances christened Liaisons Dangereuses, Love and Straight to Heaven – a crystal-inspired scent for men in their Les Paradis Artificiels series.

Super model Kate Moss, the face of many fashion and fragrance brands,
is in everybody’s sites. The English will soon be able to try her first fragrance, Kate, a musky-floral rose with vintage accents. Other stars are taking advantage of the celebrity trend to launch their first fragrance too. In the States, the list of new fragrances reads like the Grammy Awards, featuring Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani (with her brand Lamb) and Prince. His creation could have been called Purple Rain, but instead it flaunts the more mysterious moniker 3121.
