‘… Skip over to trendy Beverly Boulevard ’
Sage is a gem and L.A.’s best-kept secret!
Oh, and I’ll be honest, I’m a total Sage fan.
|
Sage boutique is a loft style, personality-driven lifestyle store…a gem! |
Now don’t be shy, pick up your phone. Sage boutique is by appointment only…hidden from the hustle and bustle of Beverly Boulevard, it’s well worth the trip. (Spring’s sunny gift: Sage will open on a daily basis.)
Sage Machado is an artist and it shows…
Ultra-hip jewellery designer – just open your latest Vogue or In Style, you’ll spot a celeb wearing her eclectic handcrafted jewellery - clothing designer, boutique owner, entrepreneur, mother…and to our great relief – and I quote – perfume junkie…Sage Machado lives on passion and creation. I’m in heaven!

Sage Machado, owner/designer, created her signature fragrance Sage Pearl while she was pregnant with her daughter. |
I am totally charmed by Sage’s fragrance line – and so is her hot adoring celebrity clientele – Salma Hayek buys her Onyx candles by the truckload!
I love the fragrance line for both the exquisite packaging – a mix of modern bohemian Asian look – and the cult signature fragrance Onyx, with its sensual notes of amber, black coconut and tobacco.
Sage perfumes are 100% oil – no water, no alcohol – they are intoxicating scents!
Sage created her fragrance line around her jewelry passion: gemstones. Her 14 fragrances are all named after gemstones, each scent reflecting each gemstone’s color, feel and origin.
Her bestsellers and cult fragrances are Pearl, a delicate, skin-feel blend of creamy sandalwood, light vanilla and musks, Onxy – my absolute fav - the intoxicating cult amber and tobacco note, and Moonstone, one of her latest creations, a sensual white-floral gardenia note.
And if the roll-on, fragrance spray and candle aren’t enough, check out the latest addition to the line: her body creams and lotions.
Sage fragrances are also sold in all hip L.A. beauty and fashion stores…look out!
Onyx: (Birthstone for August) A fragrance that is as darkly opulent as the stone for which it was named, Onyx begins with a bewitching top-note accord of black coconut, tobacco and oak moss. Its rich and enveloping base-note accord of vanilla, amber and sheer musks caresses the skin like a sweet dew born of nocturnal, tropical air. A perfume of almost primeval intensity, Onyx evokes nature's beauty in its darkest forms: a jungle's depths, volcanic heat and velvety night skies.
 |
Onyx travel-size candle by Sage: the scent of amber, tobacco and black coconut lingers in my home, my absolute fav! ( Salma – Hayek of course – restrain yourself, leave some for the girls!) |
|
Sage’s candles are truly intoxicating gems (and intensely fragranced, to our great pleasure!) and come in exquisite packaging |
|

 |
Pearl: (Birthstone for June) Pearl is a lustrous fragrance that adorns the wearer with an aura of inviting beauty. Inspired by those captivating organic “stones” that oysters and mollusks have been offering humankind since time immemorial, it begins with a delicately fresh, green top note of oak moss. The fragrance's full, round base-note accord of meditative sandalwood and fresh musks accented with warm vanilla suggests the innocence and spiritual purity that pearls have long represented. |
|
Moonstone: (Birthstone of September) Like the opalescent gem for which it was named, Moonstone is a lustrous, incandescent fragrance of ethereal beauty. An intoxicating middle-note accord of gardenia and paperwhites. These rest on a base note accord of amber, vanilla and musk accented with oak moss and tobacco flower. The ancient Romans believed that moonstones were formed by the light of the moon. Lore that equally befits a fragrance that dances on the skin like liquid moonlight. |

Did I mention that Scent Bar carried all the West coast cult-following brands? Finally under just one roof: Kai, Miss Marisa by Ebba Los Angeles, Pilar & Lucy, Sage and Monyette Paris. L.A.’s favs & best sellers…
But I’m intrigued by Scent Bar’s one-of-a-kind creations, exclusive to Luckyscent: the UNTITLED fragrance line:
Four fragrances created by renowned West Coast perfumers who have embraced Luckyscent’s daring approach to carrying only niche brands, and have played along with the ‘blank canvas’ brief, with the extremely adventurous fragrance seekers of Luckyscent in mind. The result is unique, daring notes that totally deserve to be discovered!

The UNTITLED line, exclusive to Luckyscent and carried by their Scent Bar, is composed of 4 fragrances: Untitled #1 by Yosh Han, Untitled #2 by Tristan Brando, Untitled #3 by Sarah Horowitz and Untitled #4 by Sarah Barton-King.
Two new UNTITLED creations are on their way, one by Susanne Lang no less, the other by Maria McElory, of aroma M perfumes.

UNTITLED #1 by Yosh Han, perfume oil.
A languid, abstract dreamscape done in chalk pastels. Pools of subtle color melt into each other – a dusky blue cloud of myrrh eases into the creamy golds of vanilla and honey. The hazy sunset-pink glow of Turkish rose is swirled with the deep, but muted, earth tones of amber, clove and cinnamon. Inspired by the mellow richness of caramel, the ever-inventive Yosh Han has created a fragrance with no sharp edges -- sweet and subtle and as soft and plushy as a cat’s fur. So soothing and hushed that at first it seems simple, but as we are drawn into it, the shimmering intricacies of texture reveal themselves: the warm, homespun softness of contentment; a brief, fluttering wisp of cool tranquility. Quiet, but full of nuance. Gentle and comforting. UNTITLED #1 by Yosh Han notes: waterlily, vanilla, myrrh, oak moss, Tunisian amber, cardamom, clove, cinnamon, Turkish rose, cedar

Untitled #2 perfume oil by Tristan Brando.
Perfumer Tristan Brando, undoubtedly the reigning queen of capturing a 'vacation in a bottle' has done it again, with a completely unexpected twist on a tropical getaway. Forget what you think you know about vanilla and coconut scents – this is a uniquely refreshing surprise. Think fresh, exotic aromas with a subtle hint of floral – this could quite possibly become your signature warm-weather scent. Top notes of fresh green coconut create an almost tea-like essence – so elusive that once you get a hint it escapes your grasp to become an invisible note that dries down into the deeper, richer smokiness of creamy black coconut milk mingled with exotic vanillas and white island heliotrope blossoms. Sicilian Tangelo zest spikes the fragrance with the perfect amount of tang, recreating that first burst of sunlight at sunrise. Driftwood musk balances the fragrance, making sure that no one note overpowers another, creating a perfectly harmonious blend, and washing the fragrance with a light aquatic touch. UNTITLED #2 by Tristan Brando, notes:
black coconut milk, green coconut, Tahitian vanilla, Madagascar vanilla, heliotrope, light driftwood musk, Sicilian tangelo zest |
|
UNTITLED #3 by Sarah Horowitz, perfume oil.
Simple, stunning and quite possibly enchanted. Sarah Horowitz, the brilliant creator of Creative Scentualization, has crafted an evocative blend that feels precious, mysterious and timeless. Light and sparkling yuzu gives way to the ethereal sweetness of violets. Their delicacy is balanced by smooth red amber, which gives the violets weight without ever overpowering them, and a whispery blend of coriander and sandalwood. The result is soaring and spiritual, but full of shadows, like the high vaulted ceiling of a gothic cathedral. A scent that captures the hushed and melancholy beauty of twilight. UNTITLED #3 by Sarah Horowitz notes
Yuzu, African Violet, Gardenia, Coriander, Tunisian Red Amber, East Indian Sandalwood, light Musk

|
Untitled #4 perfume oil by Sarah Barton King.
One part Baudelaire, one part Alice in Wonderland… a swirl of creamy lemon chiffon melts into an enticing blend of peach and white flowers on a velvety bed of vanilla, amber and soft musk. A simple listing of notes merely hints at the beauty of this creation though. As with their beloved cult favorite, Parfum No. 1, The Pink Room’s Sarah Barton-King has crafted an exquisitely balanced and layered fragrance that gets better and better as you wear it. This scent has the melt-in-your mouth richness of white chocolate and the effervescence of champagne. It is decadent in a breezy, “Let them eat cake” sort of way, and while it would indeed suit a satin-bodiced young queen, we could just as easily picture it on a dazzling young socialite partying all night in Manhattan. Playfully sensual and dangerously feminine.
UNTITLED #4 by Sarah Barton-King notes
Lemon, bergamot, peach, tiare, lily of the valley, orris, woods, vanilla, amber, soft musk.
