New Look 1947
Description
Composed around tuberose, New Look 1947 is a fragrance whose gently spicy opening blends pink and black pepper with ylang-ylang. The heart is a feminine bouquet of rose, jasmine and iris that facets tuberose by bestowing a powdery-spicy touch. The warm trail unveils a blend of vanilla, benzoin and woods. Perfumer: François Demachy

History
A ‘floral, opulent and explosive’ fragrance, New Look 1947 is part of Dior’s Couturier Parfumeur Collection. This series of fragrances, intended for connoisseurs of fine essences, was created by François Demachy, the House of Dior’s perfumer-designer. Each of the creations in the collection was inspired by different moments in the history of the House of Dior, like a tribute to the fashion designer and his most important encounters. The fragrance’s name echoes journalist Carmel Snow’s famous remark, ‘It’s a New Look!’ at the House of Christian Dior’s first fashion show, in 1947. The phrase personified both the designer’s house and its style. François Demachy wanted an equally innovative fragrance composed around a tuberose as modern and surprising as the arrival of the New Look in 1947.
