Midnight in Paris: star-filled skies

Date: 08.15.2010

As we announced in February, Van Cleef & Arpels’s new fragrance is called Midnight in Paris, after the jeweler’s watch by the same name. The woodsy-oriental fragrance is composed around leather, balms and smoky notes, including black tea. The ad’s star-filled night sky evokes the bottle, which is graced with stars, like the Midnight in Paris watch. But fragrance-ad connoisseurs are bound to notice the similarities to Féerie in this new men’s fragrance. Like Féerie, the perfume launched by Van Cleef in 2008, the bottle is dark blue and the ad shows a starry night. While the setting for Féerie is dream-like and pastoral, Midnight in Paris’s is less imaginary, more urban. Paris, which is an element in this fragrance’s name, features in a night-time scene at Place Vendôme, where the French capital’s most prestigious jewelers are found. Launch date: September
