In vogue in 2007, orange blossom seems to be set to extend its influence over upcoming creations. Once associated with the heady fragrances of the 80s (Giorgio, Poison et al.) orange blossom has gotten younger, and is now better known for its citrus tonalities and a more luminous, less honey-ed floral character. L’Artisan Parfumeur was one of the trendsetters, with their first “vintage harvest” scent in 2005; the trend really took off last year with fragrances for both men – Fleur du Mâle, Fahrenheit 32, Dior Homme Cologne – and women, like Fendi’s Palazzo. Among new scents for 2008, orange blossom is at the heart of Soleil (Rochas), Dis moi Miroir (Mugler), mi fa (Reminiscence) and Ted Lapidus’s Altamir, an orange-oriental for men. The trend has also caught on among bath & body brands like The Body Shop (Neroli Jasmin), Le Petit Marseillais, Yves Rocher and more. Natura, for instance, has just released an orange-blossom eau for babies and their moms. Worth keeping an eye on.
