Frankincense, with its spicy, woody and resinous accents, is a note that’s coming back into the olfactory spotlight this season. After Annick Goutal’s unisex scent Encens Flamboyant, launched last December, several other frankincense-based scents are coming out this spring. American brand Demeter has created Incense, a sweet scent inspired by a particular variety of frankincense, copal. Swiss niche brand Tauer Perfumes proposes 2. Described as a cubist frankincense scent, Incense extrême has been composed around 25% Boswellia serrata frankincense, garbed in ambergris and coriander; Incense rose is an almost chypry frankincense, with unexpected notes of rose and mandarin orange. Several other creations also boast a touch of frankincense: Calvin Klein’s MAN, Prada’s Infusion d’Iris, L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Intense, Rossy de Palma’s Eau de Protection, and Kenzo Amour Indian Holi.
