Extracts for him: a trend to watch out for…

Date: 09.15.2008

While women often get a choice of concentrations for the same fragrance (eau de toilette, eau de parfum, extract), it’s still quite rare for men to get the same treatment. So men tend to stick to eau de toilettes or colognes, rather than the more concentrated ‘eau de parfums.’ And as for ‘extracts’ or ‘parfums’, they are practically non-existent on the “for him” market. Yet it seems like times are changing, because men do in fact also want concentrated, longer-lasting scents. Caron explored the territory not long ago with an extract version of their lavender-vanilla men’s scent, Pour Un Homme. This season, 2 other brands are giving it a try. Lalique is launching an extract version of their new men’s fragrance, White, in a crystal bottle, while Guerlain has come up an extract version – in a limited edition with numbered bottles – of their bestseller for men, Habit Rouge. A trend that’s bound to inspire other brands.
