Pierre Cardin unveils the rose that bears his name

The 7th annual “Journées de la Rose” (Rose Days) were held on June 6, 7 and 8th in Chaalis, France. Pierre Cardin sponsored the event this year. On June 7th, the couturier was present to christen a rose created in his honor by the rose-specialist Meilland. This new flower grows on a medium-height bush (not a climbing variety) and has large (32-petaled), powder-pink blossoms and a powerful scent ‘reminiscent of old-fashioned roses and of freshly cut hay’.
