French actress Béatrice Dalle is a woman of action. Always on the move, she jets from continent to continent, leaving a hint of tuberose, her favorite fragrance, in her wake. (08/2001)
This year is full ol film events for Béatrice Dalle; She has just finished shooting in Japan, a cinematic tribute to "Hiroshima mon amour". Since "Betty Blue" directed by Jean-Jacques Beineix, Béatrice Dalle has gathered many fans in a country that combines pure authenticity and extreme modernity. Her latest film, "Trouble Every Day", directed by Claire Denis, came out last month in France. Opposite Vincent Gallo, she plays the very unsettling role of a perplexingly alluring she-vampire.
Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden, which a friend gave to me. But my real favorite is Tubéreuse by Santa Maria di Novella. I discovered it in Italy. In Paris, you can’t find it anywhere but at a small boutique on the rue Guisarde near Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Eau d' Héliotrope by Molinard.
What fragrance did your parents wear?
I don't remember !
Tubéreuse by Santa Maria di Novella has been with me through some of the most intense moments of my life, and in a way, it evokes my entire past rather than any particular slice of it.
Fragrances that are peppery.
Although I've tried many, I've only really worn two: one with notes of vanilla and an Eau de Figue made by a local perfumer who is no longer around, unfortunately.
What fragrance do you like to smell on those around you?
I prefer men without fragrance because I like the smell of soap. But I love it when someone gives me a bouquet of Papa Meilland roses. They're the most fragrant of all. And they're my favorite!
