A tall pyramidal tree, found predominantly in North America. Most Christmas trees in America belong to this species.

The absolute of fir is a balsam extracted from the branches and needles of the pine tree using volatile solvents. The balsam of Canada is obtained from the resin (or turpentine) of abies balsamea.

Balsam fir is used in alcohol-based perfumes and toiletries. Also in men's scents with aromatic and woody notes.
