This tree grows abundantly in the Atlas Mountains (North Africa: Morocco and Algeria) at an altitude of 4,200 to 6,500 feet.

Through steam distillation of a tree belonging to the pine family, closely related to the Cedar of Lebanon.The sawdust is steam distilled in Morocco, using scraps from sawmills and carpentry.

Its use is limited in perfumery.

The essence of Cedar of Lebanon was formerly extracted and used in Ancient Egypt for cosmetics and perfumes, as well as for embalming. Egyptians also used cedar for constructing the Temple of Jerusalem. The tree can live up to 5,000 years old.The Atlas Cedar was introduced in Europe in 1839. In Tibet, the oil is used in the temples for religious rituals and in traditional medicine.Medicinal propertiesAntiseptic, astringent, diuretic, aphrodisiac and stimulant.
