The orange is native to Southeast Asia and India and was described as early as 2200 B.C. in China.
Its name comes from the Sanskrit term "naranga". Oranges trees were imported into Europe in the 15th century. A hundred years later, noblewomen added oranges to their daily diet to preserve their health and beauty.

Orange juice helps fight epilepsy and neurosis. (thanks to the vitamin C). It is seen as a symbol of luck and prosperity among the Chinese and is still used during the Chinese New Year celebration.
