Honey

Category Balsamic

Balsamic, floral, tobacco, beeswax, woodsy.

A culinary treat and cosmetic remedy, honey is also used in perfumery. Its sweet, more or less floral, woodsy or tobacco scent varies greatly depending on the type: locust tree, fir tree, chestnut tree, lime tree, lavender, floral or other.

The honey note used in perfumery is a creative assemblage of ingredients on the part of the perfumer. Beeswax can be used, as well as molecules that are predominantly more or less woodsy (for chestnut tree honey) or floral.

The honey note is used in perfumery to bring a soft sweetness to floral bouquets. It is rarely found as a keynote (with the notable exception of Miel de Bois by Serge Lutens). It can be used in association with chypre-floral accords.
