Two new men are becoming faces of fragrances: Fendi wil... Go
green, woodsy, aquatic, fresh
Bamboo is a long-stemmed, hollow, exotic reed-like grass native to Asia. It is a hardy perennial with an easily recognizable, jointed stem.
While it is perfectly possible to obtain a natural bamboo extract, which is in fact often used in cosmetics, the bamboo fragrance is recreated in the laboratory.
A bamboo note is found in both men’s fragrances (Pure Men/ Jil Sander, Incanto/ Ferragamo…) and women’s (Relaxing Fragrance/ Shiseido, Eau Torride/ Givenchy…). It brings a fresh, woodsy, herbal and aquatic sensation.
In Asia, bamboo is used as a building material and for producing all sorts of household utensils. Tender young sprouts can be eaten and are often used for medical and cosmetic purposes (the silica it contains has remineralizing, regenerantive powers).
